This was the last movie I saw in theaters as well, and I liked it a lot more then the 1st one, liked it more then Iron Man 3 as well.

The Captain America cameo was hilarious, was laughing my ass off when Loki was ranting about freedom and patriotism as Rogers. Loki had those illusion powers since the beginning, he uses it in Avengers to make him look more glorious.

I saw Catching Fire on Friday and there was a lonnnnnnng line out the door for Frozen. I'll pick it up on blu when it comes out.

As for Catching Fire, great adaptation of the book! The new director is so much better, almost making for continuity issues since the first guy took out a lot of Katniss' psychological issues at the end of it. The new guy is great and is doing the last two movies as well :)

Went to The Hobbit today... am I the only one watching movies around here? :/ Anyways was good, and I noticed a trend of me liking second movies in a series much more. First movies are intros and journeys (in this case) and second ones are when the poop happens! Just like how Catching Fire was my favorite book and Two Towers my favorite movie. I dunno, I guess I need to be wow'd by the final battle to have it considered my favorite.
The good news on Hobbit is they do NOT skimp out on Smaug! He's awesome, and awesome to see a dragon animated so well^^ Feels like it was just yesterday when Dragonheart looked soooo realllll...

I'm not really a movie person as I don't like movie theaters and I find movies too long to watch in one sitting (and I don't like watching them segmented). I think the last movie that I saw was The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya and I cannot recall the last movie I saw in a theater.

Sounds very similar to me... Although I can watch movies in one sitting.

...Although I've been watching a couple of Christmas movies with my mother the past few days.

I don't watch many movies either. But I still really want to see both Catching Fire and The Hobbit. I'm planning on seeing Catching Fire this weekend, and then The Hobbit probably sometime during the week of Christmas.

As for The Hunger Games books, the first is my favorite one. The first half of Catching Fire was great, but then the second half was just a rehash of the first book, so that dropped it down a lot for me. But the movie looks great, and it seems it could easily top the first movie.

Glad to hear Smaug was done well in the new Hobbit movie. That's definitely what I'm looking forward to the most.

Speaking of The Hobbit, there's no reason why that should be 3 movies. The book's not that long IIRC, so... 2 movies, I could understand, but 3? I mean, I like the number 3 better than 2, but I don't get why The Hobbit needs 3 movies.

...Then again, I can't say I remember the book too well. Never liked reading to begin with, and I don't really know anything about LotR, nor do I have any interest in it.

It really shouldn't, although some actors really wanted to come back... Not that they ruined it, per say, as well, I'm enjoying the movies more than the book :p You definitely CAN see how it extended it, and the books I found dull with "walk here, sing a song, something happens, next paragraph!". There's one big scene during the climax that really WAS one paragraph long and happened quickly... that's why there's a third movie. Although I haven't read the LotR books yet, I was told that the big scenes in that one were brief, and done so much better in the movie. I can't really argue with Legolas etc in the new trilogy, because I heard Arwen wasn't even in them and was more or less a side-note.

The Hobbit definitely does not need three movies. XD It's way too much!

Oh yeah, I watched Home Alone today. At least the second half. Watched the first half a couple of days ago. I also watched The Santa Clause a few days ago.

I have a funny feeling I'll be watching a few more Christmas movies in the next week, week and a half.

Haha, I just rewatched Independence Day with my dad. And I had to laugh when, before the movie started, there was an ad for the game, for PS1, Sega Saturn, and Windows 95.

Still an awesome movie though, and still surprised they could get that many stars in it.

Just watched Life of Pi tonight. Wow... what a journey! I bought it last year on Black Friday and kept forgetting I owned it, and tonight my friends never watched it either, so we picked that to watch.

I have one criticism, and by that, I mean just something I would've liked to have seen:

Since the whole story was a parable meant to relate to Biblical stories, I wished that they showed one little scene that to me, may have been a little bit more effective. When the one white guy (forget his name...) related the story to the animals, I wish for a quick few seconds they would've done a flashback of the scene on the boat, then for a split second reveal the animals as the people they were, and then back to the animals again. I dunno, I would've liked to see that to... just show you the effect of the story, I guess :p

Still an amazing movie and I wished I watched it sooner! Normally I play Pokemon (to get ahead) while watching shows and something, but this one captivated me and I had to put the DS down. My eyes were glued.

I saw Catching Fire tonight. It was much better than the first movie, and I even enjoyed it more than the book. The first book is still my favorite of the three, but Catching Fire just worked much better as a movie. It cut out and streamlined most of the dumb parts (like most of the stuff involving the love triangle :p) and the games themselves were much better as a movie. My main problem with Catching Fire as a book was that the second half was simply a rehash of the first book, but I didn't get that feeling while watching the movie.

I still think I liked the book a bit better for Catching Fire.... Kinda funny since the original director left, how it lost it's 'continuity' with Katniss and her night terrors, since she wasn't phased at all in the first movie. The first movie was still good, but it was bad at portraying Katniss' psyches and inner dialogue. The shots of her in this one were pretty full of emotion this time!

Just watched The World's End tonight, the third in the trilogy of movies starring Simon Pegg and Nick Frost. The movie... was good, I can't day that it wasn't, but there was just something about it that left me not liking it as much as Shawn of the Dead and Hot Fuzz. The characters were all very good, they had good chemistry and were interesting, but, well... I don't want to spoil it, but I suppose I can leave it at the ending just sort of pulled me out of the experience. The pacing has a rapid shift near the end, not giving a lot of time to really be braced for the ending.

But it was a really good movie, I have to admit. The darker tone compared to the previous films might have slightly rubbed me the wrong wau, but it had good messages, good acting, a nice soundtrack, and overall was good, just marred a little at the end.
