Hell yeah, let's go punch a dude!
Merry Christmas everyone! I hope everyone had a great holiday. :3
Happy New Year everyone!
So I've been hunting for a new microphone to replace the crappy one that I've been using, and a friend coincidentally had the model I was looking for, so he sent it to me.
Unfortunately, there's a smokey odor, since his parents were smokers. Anyone know any ways to clean and deodorize a microphone?
If it has a pop filter or dead cat on it I would just replace that part entirely if you can for not too much. Getting smoke out of electronics is a bitch though, I have seen some products that claim they can do it, but it might all be snake oil.
I have nothing more to contribute than Dusty - any component that uses cloth or vinyl or foam look at replacements for - but I do wanna ask: what kind of mic is it? (just to satisfy personal curiosity)
It's a Samson Q2U; would highly recommend if looking for a cheap microphone with good audio quality for things like streaming, podcasting, etc.!
Also, what the fuck, Dusty?
I forgot that term made me WTF too. X3 Meant this though:
Also, do you find the Microphone better than say a Snowball?
Okay, well first off, I don't have a dead cat, both a literal one nor a microphone one.
Second, I haven't used one, so can't really say. Now, my friend uses a Blue Yeti, and based off voice chat sessions and stuff, it sounds perfectly fine to me. I'm no audiophile, so I couldn't really tell you what differences there are between the two that you'd be able to pick up. I'll just say that the Samson Q2U is definitely cheaper and gets the job done well enough (It goes for $50 on Amazon right now).
