XSEED only localizes and publishes games. They don't develop them. Their parent company, Marvelous, owns the IP for the Rune Factory games now I believe so they'd be in charge of funding development for a new Rune Factory.

Also, Tom (Wyrdwad) and Calros (I think?) are the more frequent admins on the forum, and they both work as translators or editors depending on the title, so they're involved in whatever projects XSEED's currently working on.

well shiz, thanks for the quick reply, its almost as if you were waiting around :D

No i get that, but they do hear when things are happening around the xseed place, future projects to come and whatnot.

ill look around to see if Marvelous has an official site, perhaps i can ask them on their forum. haha

    Would XSEED be able to forward our request to Marvelous if enough fans said they wanted a new Rune Factory? This was such an awesome series. I don't think anyone wanted it to die. ;~;

Oh, believe me, they know fans want another one, as do we. We've been pushing for a Rune Factory 5 for years now, and will continue to do so for as long as humanly possible.

Hopefully, it proves to be doable at some point... somehow!

There's a bit of a disagreement elsewhere. Does Marvelous definitely own the rights to the Rune Factory name now? For sure?

I don't know if you guys want to know this since it seems spurious, and if you visit the Ushi forums you've probably already seen it...but if anyone hasn't, then... A rather ridiculous rumour is going around about Xseed telling someone at E3 that RF5 was in development. I didn't care about it at first but I recently saw that it has spread beyond its original source, so some people must believe it. I sincerely doubt that Xseed would be telling random E3 attendees such a thing even if it WERE in development, but I've seen that rumor in a few places on the internet now, including the comments section of some articles...but I think the rumor stared here: https://www.reddit.com/r/runefactory/comments/8r3djg/i_am_at_e3_and_stopped_by_the_xseed_booth/. As for me, I feel like if this wasn't simply made up, then they must have misunderstood or had a miscommunication. I can see it maybe being confirmed by Xseed that Story of Seasons for Switch is in development since that's a game that Marvelous announced was coming sooner or later themselves, but RF5...?

It would be cool if Rune Factory Frontier got a HD Remaster for Nintendo Switch

I'd take ANY Bokumono or Rune Factory game spiffed up to modern graphic standards for the Switch, I think. :) Too bad it's so unlikely.

So...the producer of Bokumono and Rune Factory, Yoshifumi Hashimoto, has left Marvelous (sort of...well, shifted to a new section of it, anyway) to head a new subsidiary, Hakama. I wonder what this will mean for Story of Seasons...and for Rune Factory. It sounds kind of hopeful for Rune Factory (well, maybe) since that was one of Hashimoto's babies, but...not so sure what's going to come out of the Story of Seasons series now. I figured it'd see some change from moving to a new console alone, but this seems like a pretty big shake-up. How much of the team has changed, now, if any?

I accidentally choked on a scream because I was already gasping when the announcement dropped, lol. I got wide-eyed at RF4 remastered for Switch (it looks great, imo), and then they tell us we're gonna get an RF5! This...is a rather good day for me. (Also, Xseed tweeted today that they're soon gonna give us an official release date for Cold Steel Decisive, so I've just been having a great day!) A Zelda, too. It was a great direct, and the RF5 bomb was definitely the biggest, most unexpected bit of excitement for me. That was on my dream wishlist...but I really thought it was only a dream. Maybe this is because Hasmimoto split off to form Hakama under Marvelous?

Dragon Quest XI Switch too so many games announced

I will be holding on to my copy of RF4 3DS because I have all four on DS/3DS

I was disappointed to see no Animal Crossing or F-Zero

After being totally (happily) startled by the RF4 Special announcement and downright shocked by the RF5, I was no longer capable of being disappointed in anything :) I had gone on about how having not even a mention of Animal Crossing 2019 in this direct would be the ONE thing that would leave me disappointed, but after what I got, nothing could disappoint me. I thought RF5 had gone into the realm of pipe dreams. Hooray for Hashimoto and Hakama, I guess!

And a date for DQB2! And Astral Chain and Oninaki seemed worth keeping an eye on, too. Glad they've also already got a fill-the-gap Zelda game nearly ready to go, too. Maybe this means the next BIG Zelda game will happen in 202o or 2021 rather than, say, 2025, lol. Nope, no disappointment for me out of this Direct. I wanted a mention of AC, but what I got overwhelmed any thought of what I didn't get. :D Funny, since I wasn't sure what to expect. I'm not interested in the Fire Emblem game so I thought this Direct might be one of those ones with nothing in it for me. Very happy to have been so wrong!

The Japanese version of this Direct also had an announcement of a Doraemon X Story of Seasons game that I assume we won't be getting in English, but it was interesting to see. I suppose it's a spin-off sort of like the Popolocrois one.

I’m still holding out hope for Rune Factory Frontier on the Switch

Maybe 1-3 will come as well
Would love a version of RF2 that has new voice actors

Really hoping that the glitch involving the elf girl with the harp in 4 is fixed

    I didn't know Margaret had a glitch. I hope that's fixed, too, then. :)

If she is playing her harp and you start moving away from where she is standing, the game will produce the worst sound in existence

Oh, that's not a glitch. She just gets so distracted looking at your butt while you walk away that she misses some chords on her lyre. /s

I don’t see how that is possible unless she has eyes in the back of her head

I wonder if we're gonna be getting RF4 Special in physical form, or just digital. It's such a big draw, I'm thinking it'll probably get a physical version...
