Just purchased this off the PSN and every time I try to load it up, after all the company logos, the game just goes black and stays there.

I found a guy on gamefaqs who has a similar problem.

    Any help?

Wow, sorry to hear about that! I've advised my coworkers of the issue, but if you wouldn't mind writing an email to support@xseedgames.com with a thorough description of the problem (what region you're in, what version of PS3 firmware you're running, what you've tried so far to get it working, etc.), that might help get the necessary details to the developers more quickly so the cause of the problem can be determined sooner.

    Apologies for the inconvenience!

I still haven't bought the game yet. I planning to get the European retail version but that's super rare in Hong Kong.

Thanks for posting. Otherwise, I might get the PSN North American version if it goes on sale.

I suppose you have the latest PS3 firmware. If you have upgraded HDD, you should format it via PS3 which takes about 1-2 days for a 500GB 5400RPM HDD. Using a laptop HDD is a bad idea and using the PC format option is also a bad one. Game freezes usually have to do with the software update. Did you possibly update your Way of the Samurai 4 before starting game? If you did, delete the patch and it should work fine. I have no idea as to whether there is a patch or not, sorry. Sometimes, patches harm a game more than improving system stability. Games like Dragon's Dogma does a system HDD drive space calculation prior to starting game meaning that having little HDD free space will cause the game to function improperly. Try deleting all the unwanted demos or uninstall games that you don't play anymore to see if it helps. A quick way to uninstall games is to delete the game data.

One more thing. Have you try defragmentation?

Well I bought a new PS3 and the game downloaded and plays just fine. So the problem was completely from my burned-out, over-used PS3.
